Happy New Year everyone! May 2013 bring you and yours good luck, good health and prosperity!

On this day 43 years ago, something magical happened. This show features one of the best, and a personal Top 3, performance of Dark Star, many are familiar with this one but it's amazing execution of both Tighten Up AND Feelin' Groovy jams, this is certainly one to revisit if you haven't listened to it recently. The mix suffers some cuts from time to time and hopefully these tapes reside in the vault as it is an exceptional candidate for the official release treatment. This particular mix features the keyboards high in the mix, which I find enjoyable as it provides some great examples of some of Tom's best playing with the band as well as some great moments by Pigpen. Sit back and enjoy this one....

These tapes are certainly in the Vault. And there's better news yet.
Lemieux has said, "To those who have heard these shows in their entirety, with all of those nasty tape reel cuts, worry not: when the time comes to release these shows on CD, there are also good-sounding cassettes of these shows with which to fix these cuts."

That sounds promising! (Although it does seem sometimes that reading Lemieux's comments is a bit like being an old Kremlinologist, trying to read the verbal tea leaves ...)
